METAFLORA: NATURE'S RESPONSE

"MetaFlora: Nature’s Response" is an immersive art installation confronting humanity's ecological indifference. In this dystopian realm, e-waste morphs plants into metallic entities, echoing our environmental neglect. The interactive projection reacting to human presence, symbolizing our symbiotic impact on nature. The projection allows audiences think about how we affect the environment. It asks us to take responsibility for what we do by showing how our actions can harm the delicate balance of nature.

Research Insight

  • Environmental damage is often spatially distant from everyday experience

  • Many sustainability messages rely on static infographics

  • Audiences rarely experience real-time feedback between action and ecological impact

Design Question

How might responsive environments make ecological impact experientially immediate?

Visitor Journey

  • Audience enters the projection space

  • Ultrasonic sensor detected distance between the audience and installation

  • Environmental state transforms in real time

  • Viewer perceives cause–effect relationship

Reflection

This project extends my visual design practice into responsive environments, exploring how real-time systems can make human–nature relationships perceptible rather than abstract.
